We’re Ben and Dan, and together we formed What Noiz over a decade ago.
Formally trained at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), we were both lucky enough to have incredible careers in theatre, event management, lighting and audio visual from early on in our careers. Taking us all over the world, we gained experience in a massive range of venues and events (Elton John anyone?!) before we decided there was a need for a modern, highly professional, skilled and adaptable production business right here in Perth.
Sensing the opportunity for providing niche access to the latest sound and lighting technology which we predicted was going to be the way of the future, we took the leap of faith and branched out on our own into the silent disco world in 2012 with What Noiz.
As a Perth based sound and lighting company focussed on ensuring the ultimate music experience, What Noiz now provides Western Australia’s best audio visual set up for silent (and noisy!) events for up to 800+ partygoers at premium and professional events and parties.
We provide a holistic approach to running events, from the first idea or concept, to the final truck closing its doors at the load out – and that’s why our clients love us. We care about our technology, your event, and ensuring the guests attending have a great time..
Soon after, we felt Perth’s corporate arena needed high-end and meticulous delivery of tailored audio-visual services too. With this in mind, we launch our second business, Evolution AV, in 2015 to deliver unique sound and lighting technology solutions and support for Perth’s biggest corporate, theatre and stage events, and we now enjoy regularly working with some of Australia’s largest stage shows and brilliant performers.
Regardless of your event type or size, you know you’re in great hands with our team of highly skilled, solution orientated and personable audio-visual experts.
Benjamin Fry is a Perth trained theatre professional who graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2007. Ben has had an incredible career, traveling all over the world, from working in Mauritius designing presidential events to consulting on West End productions, while also designing cabaret venues in London. Another major learning curve for Ben was his time spent managing theatres at John XXIII College and Presbyterian Ladies College, which has given him major insight into supporting the education sector.
Daniel Hocking trained in lighting at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating in 2007. From there Daniel went on to manage a lighting company and during this time was promoted to the Operations Manager supporting all lighting and audio-visual services. Within that role he oversaw the installation of major events like the opening of the arena and installation of equipment in most professional venues in Perth. Dan has extensive knowledge in this industry.
